Rob Harrer, Managing Attorney

Rob began his legal career primarily focused on consumer protection cases that violate the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act (FDCPA). Rob has advocated tirelessly for thousands of clients with debt and credit issues, who fell victim to debt collectors and debt settlement companies that use unfair, deceptive, and abusive practices. Rob quickly identified an opportunity to better serve consumers and quickly expanded the firm’s scope of practice to include defending collection lawsuits for consumers across Chicagoland.

Rob is a co-founder of the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services Consumer Debt and Credit Clinic. Rob is a graduate of the Northern Illinois University College of Law, where he earned his law degree and an MBA from the University of Chicago. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Rob enjoys spending time hiking with his family and reading spy novels. He also enjoys spending time with his young son, building skyscrapers with Legos, playing board games, and participating in imaginary play with anything involving a superhero and a cape.

Bryan Thompson, Senior Attorney

Bryan has spent nearly his entire legal career advocating for consumers with debt and credit issues. Bryan has defended over a thousand collection defense cases and has extensive experience suing debt settlement companies that take advantage of vulnerable consumers. He also has extensive experience litigating cases that violate the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), both individually and as class action lawsuits.

Bryan earned his law degree from Northern Illinois University College of Law and earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Bryan is active with the National Association of Consumer Advocates and is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association. He is also a Certified Information Privacy Professional – United States (CIPP/US) via the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).
